First, I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has followed along with our week of reveals for this special project.
Our client was so thrilled to see how were were able to create more function and transform the entire feeling of their spaces, they recently texted to say how much their were enjoying Christmas in their new spaces! In case you missed it, you can see the kitchen reveal here and check out the new powder bathroom and foyer here. If you’re already caught up, let’s talk more about this lovely dining room.
THE DINING ROOM
Our clients wanted us to create an open concept first floor with an easy flow between the front and back of the house. The family needed a functional and beautiful dining room while leaving enough space on either side to easily be able to move through to the kitchen and living room spaces. By removing the french doors between the old kitchen and dining space, we let in a breath of fresh air and so much more light into the central dining room. Here’s a look at the before…
The original dining table was a bit over-scaled for the space and the beverage fridge sat on the right side of the dining room. We were able to move the beverage fridge into the new kitchen design though smart space planning - incorporating it into the peninsula that also pulls double-duty as a server for the dining room. A narrow oval dining table in a distressed finish (perfect for kiddos) encourages easy movement around the table to both the living room and kitchen, took the place of the old rectangular table. The tiered-leaf chandelier, with its antique brass finish and stunning curves it adds the perfect “wow” to the dining area while reflecting the shape of the new dining table.
The new upholstered chairs are both comfortable enough for long dinner parties with friends and tough enough for family meals with their rich blue performance fabric. Our clients had a lovely hutch that we were able to use in this space to store their dishes, barware, and other special pieces. The plants add a lively touch of greenery and nature to this now bright spot.
We are absolutely thrilled with how this home came together. It was a joy to deliver both beauty and functionality for our clients, making their home a place that they are excited to come home to at the end of the day.
