Welcome back friends.

It’s the third and final chapter of our #CharmingCountryColonial project reveal and we can’t say thank you enough for your feedback and support. This house, and these clients, are so very special and it was an honor to be able to help create a home that will only grow more lovely as the family builds cherished memories in these spaces. In case you missed it, be sure to check out Part One and Part Two.

Lower Level Den

The lower den sits just off the patio and pool area, and is also used as a playroom for our client’s two young daughters, so everything had to be durable and nothing too precious. We drew inspiration for this space from our client’s personal collection of family memorabilia and leaned into those cozy summer camp vibes. We kept the paneled walls bright, which allowed us to bring in more saturated pieces while still maintaining a feeling of lightness in the room. The furniture selections here are more casual, perfect for family movie nights, games, and lounging. We played into a bit of quirkiness with our side tables - from hooves to mushrooms, the mixed wood tones and metals keep everything feeling collected. A rug with a distressed finish also gives a sense of time and can hide any mishaps that might occur. And because you know that we can’t resist bringing in some tension with our designs, the rustic elements of the room are tempered with decidedly modern light fixtures that act as both task lighting and sculptural elements.

Kitchen Hangout

Just off the kitchen was the most perfect space to create a petite seating area that can keep everyone connected while pulling together meals for family and friends. A small, comfortable settee with traditional lines is paired with modern, customized velvet chairs in a colorful pattern. We contrasted modern lines of the chair with a rustic wood table. Linen drapery softens the space while still taking advantage of the views outside. From sharing a cup of coffee with friends, to a cozy space for the children to read and play, this small yet hard-working space will surely see a lot of use.

Entry

Here, custom-built corner benches flank the doorway on both sides, providing plenty of room for kids and adults to come in and pull off their boots, or to bundle up for a day of snowshoeing. We topped the benches with custom cushions in a soft, blue, slightly nubby tweed-inspired fabric to bring color and softness to the bright and airy space. The door swing wouldn’t allow for an area rug inside the foyer so we removed a section of the existing tile and recessed a durable, commercial-grade mat in a soft, sisal color into the floor.

And that concludes our dive into our #CharmingCountryColonial! We’ll be sending out an exclusive color-sourcing list from this project to our email subscribers so if you haven’t already, be sure that you on our list.

Cheers!
