Vestige Home Favorites, Elevating Your Space

Whether you are working with an interior designer,

or taking a DIY approach to creating your home, there are a few tried-and-true ways that you can elevate your spaces, making them unique and unexpectedly beautiful. At vestige HOME we strive to find moments of delight in the designs that we create - elevating even everyday items. If you would like to work with our Interior Design studio in Philadelphia or beyond to create cohesive and delightful spaces, we would love to hear from you. Keep reading to learn more about a few ways that we love to create elevated interiors.

Lighting as Sculpture

Probably our most favorite way to elevate any space is with sculptural lighting. We love finding sconces, chandeliers, and lamps that can act as both art and lighting - making the space feel more considered and collected. At vestige HOME, we gravitate towards mid-century inspired lines to create design tension in more traditional spaces. Functional and beautiful, you can’t go wrong splurging on a great light fixture.

Material Choices

Call me crazy, but natural materials will never go out of style. Investing in the materiality of your space is a great way to take a room from “basic” to “wow”. Some of our favorite material choices are white oak and walnut, natural stone like marble, and even tiles with a handmade or varied appearance. When we are designing with natural materials, we like to let the natural variation shine through matte or natural sealers. When sourcing countertops, we recommend taking the time to consider the final layout to highlight delicate veining or swirls so that you are making the most of your material investment and you can appreciate those special little “wow” moments that you find in natural stone.

Original Artwork

One of the best ways to ensure that your space is unique and personal to you is through original artwork. From sculpture to ceramics, textiles to murals, original artwork is an investment that makes your space personal and meaningful. In our #PhillyStoneQueen Dining Room, we commissioned Carla Weeks to create a one-of-a-kind mural with references to our travels and favorite architecture. Vintage artwork is another great way to bring personal, original artwork into your space, often at a fraction of the cost of a gallery piece. You can also check out local artists to help create a personal feel into your home.

Vintage Furnishings

If your goal is to design a space that feels collected and personal, you can’t go wrong with sourcing vintage furniture. The quality of vintage is often unmatched and immediately adds a sense of time to a space, even in a new build. If you are willing to put in a bit of time hunting for that special piece, the payoff is worth it!

At our #CharmingCountryColonial project, we sourced this vintage cabinet for the primary bathroom adding beauty and functionality.

Custom Millwork

Last but not least, if you want to maximize functionality and style in ANY space, custom millwork is a must. From bathroom vanities to bookshelves, the investment in custom millwork pays out day after day with its quality craftsmanship and its ability to transform even the smallest spaces. At vestige HOME, we are able to design these pieces from scratch and our partnerships with local millwork shops and craftspeople, built over years, means that we are able to ensure quality and attention to detail.
